Bio

BASICS;
Character ► Fayt Leingod.
Fandom ► Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.
Original or Alternate ► Alternate.
Age ► 22.
Gender ► Male.
Species ► Human/Earthling.
Sexuality ► Heterosexual.
Housing ► Dor-Enas.
IN-DEPTH;
Appearance ► Fayt is tall, standing at 5’9”. His slightly muscular build enables him to wield a sword with force and deliver powerful kicks, but he’s still agile enough to run and hide if the need arises. He has pale skin, blue hair and a kind face. His eyes stand out in particular, however; they’re emerald green, beautiful even in tears. Upon his arrival in Econtra, he is dressed in black ceremonial robes, having just attended a funeral. On regular days, he simply dons an undershirt, a sleeveless jacket, cargo pants, a utility belt and rubber shoes (or boots fabricated specially for running and fighting), and keeps his sword strapped on his back. However, he’s taken a liking to black in the recent years, and wears clothes of that color all of the time.

Personality ► Fayt used to be a carefree, laid-back young man. He was interested in research much like his parents, but he preferred playing basketball and battle simulation games. A fast learner, he was able to pick up a couple of sword and martial arts techniques from simply engaging in simulated battles. The war he’d unwillingly gotten himself into changed him, however. He had become somber and quiet, and more often than not he’d be found brooding. People say he’s yet to get over the death of his loved ones, and that he still blames himself for their demise, believing that he should’ve died in their place.

What hasn’t changed, however, is his stubbornness, sincerity and thoughtfulness. He is determined to do what is right and to set things right, and he would never abandon a person in need. He is also able to see – and more importantly, believe in – the goodness in others and inspire them to change for the better, something that a lot of video game protagonists seem to have in common.

Abilities/Strengths ► Coming from an Earth of the future, Fayt is knowledgeable in technology. He can even pilot a starship. In combat, he’s skilled with a sword and in using his feet to render devastating kicks. His attacks are primarily short-ranged, but he’s agile and able to use several elemental spells as well. And having been genetically reengineered, he also possesses the power of Destruction, although he still hasn’t been able to control or use it to its fullest.

Battle Skills

Charge — Fayt rams into the enemy, causing both HP and MP damage.
Aerial — Fayt leaps into the air and knocks the enemy to the ground with a downward slash for both HP and MP damage.
Blade of Fury — Fayt strikes through an energy-covered sword with a vertical slash. Further pressing the button will have him follow up with a second slash and a 2-hit lunge. Higher mastery levels cut the time between slashes, allowing Fayt to perform them seamlessly at high speed.
Blazing Sword — Fayt engulfs his sword in flames, adding fire-elemental and MP damage to his normal attacks; using another battle skill will cancel the effects. Higher mastery levels increase the enchantment's duration.
Side Kick — Fayt sidesteps and dives in for a kick for up to three hits; the beginning of the attack grants Fayt a short amount of invulnerability.
Ice Blade — Fayt enchants his sword in ice, adding water-elemental and MP damage to his normal attacks; using another battle skill will cancel the effects. Higher mastery levels increase the enchantment's duration.
Shotgun Blast — Fayt creates a wall of miniature explosions ahead of himself for multiple hits; fire-elemental.
Lightning Blade — Fayt imbues his sword with the power of lightning, adding wind-elemental and MP damage to his normal attacks; using another battle skill will cancel the effects. Higher mastery levels increase the enchantment's duration.
Air Raid — Fayt leaps into the air with an uppercut slash of energy that knocks the enemy into the air as well, then sends the enemy back to the ground with a second powerful wave of energy for a wide, damaging shockwave.
Dimension Door — Fayt charges in a void of energy, damaging enemies in the vicinity, and teleports over to the nearest enemy, hitting them with an energy slash. Also does MP damage and can cause paralysis.
Divine Blade — Fayt's sword is blessed with holy power, adding non-elemental and MP damage to his normal attacks; it is the most powerful of all the sword enchantments, and using another battle skill will cancel the effects. Higher mastery levels increase the enchantment's duration.
Ethereal Blast — Fayt's sword turns into energy that surrounds his body as he leaps into the air. He grows wings and is covered in an aura of energy, which he unleashes in large beam on a concentrated area of the ground; the end result is an enormous explosion that causes heavy HP and MP damage.

Symbology

Lightning Blast — Fayt sends a short stream of electricity in the general direction of his target. Wind-elemental.
Deep Freeze — Encases a medium-sized area in ice. Water-elemental.
Stone Rain — A large stone explodes over the head of the enemy and rains rocks for a short amount of time in a wide area. Earth-elemental.
Explosion — A globe of fire touches down and burrows into the ground before erupting into a large-scale explosion of fire. Fire-elemental.

Fayt is headstrong, and he has the charisma of a leader, a trait that he isn’t too aware of. He cares for the people who stand by his side and will never abandon them no matter the circumstances. This has won him loyal friends and trusted allies. He knows how to take responsibility for his actions and is always ready to make amends and set things right.

Weaknesses ► Fayt worries a lot, and he can be very stubborn and hardheaded on the wrong occasions. His notion of never abandoning his friends and allies has gotten him into trouble numerous times, some of which he only narrowly escaped with his life. And while he knows how to take responsibility for his actions, he, too, has the unfortunate tendency to try to do everything and blame himself for things that he shouldn’t. Having lost two of his closest friends as well as his parents, he feels that he is not worthy to be the one who survived and that he should take care of everyone else to make up for that.

Notable Possessions ► Fayt owns a sword with the emblem of Aquaria on the handle, and carved on the blade are runic symbols that represent each of the members of his circle of friends – Sophia, Cliff, Mirage, Maria, Nel, Albel and himself. He also wears a simple silver necklace without a pendant under his shirt, which previously belonged to Sophia.
HISTORY;
Fayt is the only son of Dr. Robert and Ryoko Leingod, the most renowned and highly respected scholars of symbological genetics in the Pangalactic Federation, and a college student studying in the same field at the Bachtein Science University. He was spending his vacation on Hyda IV with his parents and his childhood friend, Sophia Esteed, when the planet was attacked by the Vendeeni, an alien civilization with highly advanced technology. Fayt and Sophia were separated from Robert and Ryoko, but they managed to escape on the starship Helre. Unfortunately, they were also separated when the Vendeeni attacked the Helre.

Fayt's escape pod landed him on Vanguard III, a planet with technology equivalent to 16th century Earth, and he discovered that an off-world criminal, the exiled Rezerbian Norton, was plotting to take it over. It was on Vanguard III that he met Cliff Fittir, a member of the anti-Federation organization called Quark, who helped him defeat Norton. He learned that Quark's leader wanted to meet with him and rescue his father, who had been taken hostage by the Vendeeni, so he agreed to get off the planet with Cliff and his assistant, Mirage Koas. It wasn't long, however, before the Vendeeni found them and attacked, but they managed to escape and crash-land on Elicoor II, an underdeveloped world seemingly around 17th century Earth in terms of technological advancement.

Having crash-landed on the capital city of Airyglyph, the three were taken in by the Glyphians as ordered by the King, and the Eagle was seized to be examined. To avoid suspicion, they cleverly fabricated a story - they were engineers from a technologically advanced country in the neighboring continent of Greeton, and they were looking for Fayt's father, who had been kidnapped. The King was moved by their story, and he asked Albel Nox, the commander of Airyglyph's Dragon Brigade, to help them in their search. One day, however, a Vendeeni battleship appeared in the sky, having found their quarry. Fayt watched as the ship began obliterating everything and everyone around them, and realization dawned upon him: he was what they wanted. A strange, previously unknown power then stirred from inside Fayt, and he destroyed the battleship.

He awoke in the castle, with no memory of what had transpired. Albel began to question them about the recent turn of events when Nel Zelpher, an agent of Aquaria, arrived, seeking an audience with Albel. The Vendeeni's assault had apparently reached as far as Arias, a village in Aquaria, and since Airyglyph and Aquaria had been at war before, Airyglyph's Dragon Brigade was automatically suspected of trying to start another war. Nel, however, having known Albel from the previous war, refused to believe such an accusation, and so decided to ask him firsthand about what truly happened. Shortly after Nel's arrival came Maria Traydor, the leader of Quark. Fayt and the other off-worlders then had to reveal the truth to Albel, Nel and the Elicoorians concerned: they were visitors from another planet, and they would have to work together to drive off the Vendeeni. Nel volunteered the use of the Thunder Arrow, a runological weapon developed by the Aquarians. They also enlisted the help of Crosell, the largest air dragon on the planet, per Albel's suggestion.

In the course of the operation, Fayt learned from Maria that he had been one of the subjects of his father's experiments - like her, he'd been genetically altered. As to why, they would have to ask Fayt's father, and that was the reason why Quark was so keen on rescuing him as well. However, while they were successful in defeating the Vendeeni at Elicoor, they failed to rescue Dr. Leingod. He died as they attempted to free him from the hands of the Vendeeni, as he had shielded Fayt from an attack by a Vendeeni soldier, and his last words to his son were, "Go to Moonbase." Maria, intent on discovering the truth, set out for Moonbase immediately, and while Fayt grieved his loss, he joined her. To their surprise, Albel and Nel decided to join them as well.

On the way to Moonbase, a research station, Fayt was reunited with Sophia. They also learned that there was a new threat in the galaxy, in the form of ultra-powerful space-borne beings called Executioners. They had issued a declaration of war, and the technology of both the Federation and the Vendeeni seemed to pale in comparison to theirs. Investigation of the Moonbase records revealed the truth behind the Executioners and their appearance. During the charting of the planet Styx, explorers encountered an extremely advanced and extremely old Time Gate. When it was activated, it informed them that their forays into the field of symbological genetics had angered the Creator, and that they were to be destroyed. Even if they were to abandon symbological genetics, the reins would be taken up by another soon enough, and that they were not being warned, rather they were being sentenced. Studies soon suggested that the statement came from another plane of existence; an entirely new universe, known as 4D space. Further study revealed that symbology might be used to access that universe. The scientists - Robert and Ryoko Leingod, Jessie Traydor and Clive Esteed - agreed to use their own offspring, and the children were symbologically altered in such a way that if they worked together, they could gain entry through the Time Gate. Maria was given the power of Alteration, which would allow her and those with her to remain in physical forms in the new world. Fayt was given the power of Destruction, as it was assumed they would need to physically defend themselves. Sophia was given the power of Connection, the key ability needed to make contact with 4D space. The Vendeeni had been attacking in hopes of handing over Fayt to the Executioners and staying away from their wrath.

Fayt and his friends then went to Styx to confront the Creator. Reaching the Time Gate, they entered 4D space, a dimension higher than their own. There, they learned that the 4D beings viewed their world as unreal; rather, their world, the Eternal Sphere, was a computer simulation developed by Luther Lansfeld, the owner of the Sphere Company, similar to real-world MMORPGs. The Executioners were apparently anti-viruses sent to delete anomalies in the Milky Way section of the Eternal Sphere.

Luther finally decided that the Eternal Sphere was beyond saving and had to be destroyed. They fought the Creator and won, but it was a costly battle. All of them sustained heavy injuries, but not as worse as the injury on Albel’s arm that he has since worn a clawed gauntlet over it, hiding the nasty scars and burns that reminded him and the others of that dark and nearly hopeless battle. Cliff and the others spent weeks in a medical facility just to recover, something the Klausian was not at all used to. It didn’t help that he was easily bored, either. Their greatest loss, however, was Sophia. Luther had deleted her to demonstrate the extent of his power of their realm, and her death caused Fayt to go berserk, using his power of Destruction to kill the Creator and nearly deleting the entire universe in the process. The remnants of Sophia's power of Connection, which miraculously remained active even after her death, disconnected the Eternal Sphere from the Sphere Company, and Maria's power of Alteration allowed the Sphere to exist as a separate reality.

Having lost Sophia and his parents, Fayt saw no reason to return to Earth, and he instead went with Nel and Albel to Elicoor. To the Elicoorians, he was hero just as much as the two natives were, and they called him the Arrow of Apris. Both Airyglyph and Aquaria requested his aid in rebuilding their lands, but he chose to serve the Aquarians, claiming that they needed him more than Airyglyph, since the Glyphians had Albel anyway. He stayed in Aquios, the capital of Aquaria, and in time, Nel revealed to him that she was the true queen of Aquaria. She had switched identities with her bodyguard, Romeria Zin Emurille, in order to protect herself. On the other hand, having fulfilled their mission, Maria disbanded Quark. She continued to travel with Cliff and Mirage, although she was seen in Airyglyph quite often.

Almost three years had passed since then. At 22, Fayt was the Chief Researcher of the Runological Weapons Development division of Aquaria, having taken over the position of Dion Landers, who had died during the Vendeeni assault. He was also Aquaria's ambassador to Airyglyph, enabling him to meet often with Albel, who by then had become his closest friend. There were rumors that he was engaged to Nel, but he denied such claims and said that they were merely partners, carefully concealing the fact that he was the queen’s other loyal bodyguard.

Good times were not to last, however. One day, catching everyone by surprise, news of Albel's death spread throughout Airyglyph and Aquaria like wildfire. Fayt and Nel suspected foul play. Other than the obligatory hero’s funeral, the Glyphians didn’t seem to want to have anything to do with the unfortunate accident. And one man seemed a little too happy with the development – Vox, Albel’s successor as commander of the Dragon Brigade. Cliff, Mirage and Maria joined them on Airyglyph for the funeral, but not even finishing the ceremony, Maria stalked off on her ship alone and left, unable to deal with Albel’s death. Mirage followed her, intent of keeping the girl out of trouble, while Cliff remained with Fayt and Nel, saying that it was a situation Mirage was better at simply because she was a woman.

After the funeral, Count Woltar called Fayt over and handed over the ownership of Albel’s dragon, Ather, to him. He then decided to go for a test flight, and Ather didn’t object. He felt himself soar to the sky and he closed his eyes, feeling Albel’s very being resonate from the dragon himself. But when he opened them he was no longer on Elicoor II, and he was falling
RELATIONSHIPS;
Eternal Sphere

Albel Nox ► Former commander of the Dragon Brigade, one of the three military branches of Airyglyph, and was generally considered as Fayt's best friend. He formally trained Fayt in using a sword as well as fighting on an air dragon. But around three years after Luther's defeat, he was caught in an unfortunate accident and died. Fayt and Nel suspect foul play, however, and that Vox, the new leader of the Dragon Brigade, was behind the murder.

Cliff Fittir ► One of Fayt's most trusted allies, despite the fact that they bicker and argue a lot, for they have come a long way ever since their acquaintance in Vanguard III. He is Fayt's bodyguard and protector, as well as his 'big brother'.

Maria Traydor ► One of Fayt's allies. Like him, Maria was symbologically altered, given the power of Alteration. He respects and looks up to her even though they are of the same age, mainly because she is the leader of Quark. Her power enabled Fayt and his team to survive in 4D space and ultimately defeat Luther.

Nel Zelpher ► Fayt's current love interest, although he really isn't sure where he stands with her or how he even truly feels about her. To the others she's an agent and ambassador of Aquaria, and a 'hot chick' to Cliff. But Fayt knows her secret: she's the true queen of Aquaria, having switched identities with her bodyguard Romeria Zin Emurille to protect herself.

Sophia Esteed ► Fayt's childhood friend and former love interest. She was killed during the battle against the Creator as Luther 'deleted' her to demonstrate his power over the Eternal Sphere. She possessed the power of Connection which enabled Fayt and his friends to enter the 4D world, and, at her death, disconnected the Eternal Sphere from the Sphere Company, allowing it to exist as a separate reality. Her death caused Fayt to go berserk and use his power of Destruction to kill Luther, almost deleting the Eternal Sphere in the process.
